State Water Board Releases Drinking Water Factsheet and Guidance Document in Response to COVID-19 Concerns

The State Water Board has released a factsheet explaining how existing drinking water safety rules and regulations protect against a wide spectrum of potential safety risks, including viruses like COVID-19. A Spanish language version of the factsheet is also available.

The Board has also released a guidance document for public water systems that identifies relevant considerations and details suggestions to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on the operation of public water systems and to support the continued delivery of safe drinking water.

The guidance document includes suggestions in six areas:

  1. Continued Communications
  2. Maintaining Staffing Capabilities
  3. Laboratory Services
  4. Maintain Enough Consumables (Chemicals and Materials)
  5. Financial Considerations
  6. Prepare for Response
