Earlier this month, State Water Board Chair Joaquin Esquivel, provided an update to the Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience (SAFER) Advisory Committee meeting on the accomplishments during the first five years of the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund. The program is a set of tools, funding sources, and regulatory authorities designed to meet the goals of safe, accessible, and affordable drinking water for all Californians. The SAFER program includes the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund, which is intended to help water systems provide safe drinking water to communities.

In the Sacramento Valley, the North State Drinking Water Solutions Network is an ad-hoc group convened by the Northern California Water Association (NCWA) as a forum for interested parties to share information and coordinate efforts related to ensuring that all communities in the Sacramento River Basin have access to safe drinking water.
