Recently, representatives from water management entities, conservation organizations, government agencies and others gathered at the Nimbus Hatchery to celebrate the return of fall-run Chinook salmon to the American River. The event this year was especially significant because the returning adults were migrating out to the ocean as juveniles during the recent drought. Hatchery practices at that time, coupled with favorable ocean conditions have resulted in an early and promising return of adult salmon so far this year.
