Maximizing the Habitat Values for our Central Valley Wildlife Refuges

Tuesday, Apr 14th, 2020

The Northern California Water Association, working with our Pacific Flyway habitat partners, has developed a new summary document outlining the water and infrastructure funding needed for each of the Central Valley refuges to maximize their habitat values for fish and wildlife.

The summary was developed with input from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Reclamation, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Ducks Unlimited, California Waterfowl Association, Audubon California, Grassland Water District and others.

This document was created to help inform state and federal funding decisions, provide a comprehensive look at the needs throughout the Central Valley and to help achieve the habitat targets contained in the Central Valley Joint Venture Implementation Plan. The habitat values in these refuges work in tandem with the ricelands and other managed wetlands to serve the birds and many other species along the Pacific Flyway.
